Helaman Academy is a private Latter-day Saint Christian school focused on life and college preparation in a small class setting where every student gets personal attention. Our teachers work directly with students through hands on lessons and one on one tutoring to make sure no one falls through the cracks. We are committed to raising academically prepared, faith centered young people who are ready for whatever comes next. Our founders personally oversee the academy and each bring over 30 years of their own experience instructing college courses, giving the school a level of academic leadership that is hard to find anywhere else.
Our Story
Helaman Academy began with a college professor’s dream to build a better school for his grandson. When his grandson reached school age, Professor Steve took a hard look at what modern schooling had become; too many students were being moved along in crowded, one-size-fits-all classrooms, with outcomes that were “good enough,” but not truly excellent. So, Professor Steve and his wife, Mindy Tracy (also a college professor), decided to build something better. It started first for their grandson, and then for every family who wanted more than average.

That decision became our mission. We built a school that is small, disciplined, and deeply personal. Where students are known, taught at their level, and supported with real attention and high expectations. With small classes and personalized instruction, comprehension comes quicker, confidence grows faster, and students are prepared for college and real-world success.
Finally, we wanted a school that would grow minds and testimonies. We take Brigham Young’s standard seriously when he said: “I want you to remember that you ought not to teach even the alphabet or the multiplication tables without the Spirit of God”. Our aim is simple: raise capable, high-performing students and help them grow into faithful disciples of Jesus Christ.

While our founders, faculty, and mission are rooted in the teachings and values of the restored gospel, Helaman Academy is an independent educational institution and is not owned, operated, or officially affiliated with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
